The weather in Portland is INCREDIBLE right now, perfect for family portraits for your home, gifts, and holiday cards! We are scheduling sessions for August and September in Portland now, and Palm Beach, Florida sessions for October. Contact us here to get on the calendar and ensure you have portraits you will love this year and forever~
Are you enjoying art of your family on your walls and in albums every day? I hope so.
This portrait illustrates a growing collection in one of our clients' homes. Here you see a little man at his one year session....and above him are some keepsakes from his newborn and sixth month portrait sessions.
Guess who is adding three more images to this collection? This guy!
Did you know that family photography can boost children's self esteem?
“Displaying photos prominently in the home sends the message that our family and those in it are important to one another, and we honor the memories we have experienced,“ says Cathy Lander-Goldberg, a licensed clinical social worker and a professional photographer in St. Louis, Missouri and the director of Photo Explorations, which offers workshops to girls and women using portrait and journaling for self-reflection.
Additionally, Krauss recommends having photographs of that child with their family placed in the child’s bedroom so it can be among the last things they see before sleep and the first thing they may see before beginning their day.
“It says we love you and care about you. You’re important.”

We are LOVING our new luxurious, handcrafted folio boxes, the perfect bridge between display art and albums. And, also the collectible every grandparent wants! (They told us....we know.)
Collections of either 10 or 20 images are included in our hand cut linen covered boxes, which coordinate perfectly with our album line. Unique to our folio boxes: a diagonal opening allows mats to be moved over and kept inside the box for neat and clean viewing and archivability.
Even better? Our folio boxes are handmade in the USA, cruelty free and environmentally friendly. Start your collection with your favorites from a past session, or a new one~
These two ladies travelled all the way from Miami to visit the studio. With so many changes during the first year of life, capturing a beautiful portrait as newborns, sitters, and new walkers is essential. Getting a timeless interactive one with mama is a bonus!
What do you want your family to remember?
I was able to capture these portraits for a special high school senior couple. On location, near Riverdale High School. How adorable are they? Cheers to the Class of 2018!
When my functional medicine physician, Dr. Maggie Yu, asked me if I knew anyone who could create modern, professional headshots for her , I was happy to recommend myself (and my trusty assistant of 11+ years, Sarah).
Maggie and her practice's nutritionist Frankie came by the studio to update their professional headshots and we managed to get so many good ones and have a lot of fun!
If you are in the Portland area, I highly recommend Dr. Maggie, especially if you have anything going on with hormones, autoimmune disease or issues your regular doctor just cannot figure out. You can see more about her office here.
Our whole crew from the studio just returned from a week-long retreat to Alaska on the Celebrity Solstice. We did a ton of work (really!), ate way too much, spotted orca, humpbacks, porpoises, and seals and came together as a team of 5. Great times!
We're now back and ready for a summer of Portland sunshine, iced coffee and photography. Hope to see you soon~
Oh, how I love a house with great light! Look at these gorgeous images of mom, dad and their two little ladies being themselves and having a good time. Ah, kids know how to live in the moment~
I just returned from a few days in Florida for what I think was my all-time favorite project to date.
Here's a peek at some items on my shot list:
- large and small chicken coops
- barn, interior and exterior
- front and back pastures
- mini barns
- obstacle course
- white sand beach
- 10 breeds of chickens
- horse training in round pen
- horse driving over bridge
- kids feeding tortoises strawberries
- grooms hand walking and grooming horses
- groom dropping hay
- 11 miniature horses individually
- goats playing on goat gym
- donkey group
- six large horses photographed individually
- all staff headshots
Of course, the day I arrived the weather went from balmy to downright scorching. I don't think I have ever been so hot, dirty and exhausted or drank so much water...but I also loved every single minute of the experience.
Oh and the best part? As I was packing up to leave after Day 3, a miniature horse decided to give birth in a pasture. Take a peek at the little foal with her mama at just a few minutes old. Pure magic.
